Silent Spring Raffle
On Tuesday, November 1st, SAC will raffle off a signed first-edition copy of Rachel Carson's Silent Spring.
This is the true first edition, first printing (with "FIRST PRINTING" stated on the copyright page and with no later printings listed). The book is signed by the author on the half-title page ("Best Wishes - Rachel Carson"). The author has not inscribed the book to anyone, very nice hardcover with dust jacket. There is no writing and no bookplates and it is not a former library book. This book and dust jacket (price clipped) are in near fine condition.
Signed copies of this important book, one of the most important in the environmental movement, are scarce as Carson died of cancer less than two years after its publication.
Autographed copies of this book in similar condition were recently priced (August, 2011) in the range of $2,250.00 to $3,750.00.
This book was made available by Frank J. Priznar, President of PRIZIM Inc. in Gaithersburg MD. Mr. Priznar is a Stewardship Action Council (SAC) Board member and PRIZIM Inc. is a SAC Founding Member.
Tickets will be sold throughout the day on Monday, October 31 and Tuesday, November 1, at SAC's booth at the NSC conference.
The winner will be drawn at Marathon Grill in downtown Philadelphia, the evening of November 1.

First Annual SAC Conference held in conjunction with the National Safety Council Congress & Expo
|
Please register soon as hotel space is filling up fast. Non-Members can register directly through the NSC website. SAC Members receive a special rate. Visit our Members Only website for more details.
Recognition of SAC Members at Conference
SAC will have a booth at the upcoming NSC Congress and Expo, and we would like to recognize our members. We are currently looking to post a list of our members and would like to include your organization's logo. This is a great opportunity for your company to be recognized as an SAC member and to promote your organization. If you would be interested, please email a large file size of your logo to
Charlotte Valentine. If your company is unable to submit its logo for any reason, you will still be recognized by having your name listed as a member.
Be a part of the event and help staff the SAC booth!
SAC is a membership based organization, and we would like to give all of our members the opportunity to share their experience with SAC and promote their own company. We are asking members to volunteer for an hour or two to help staff our expo booth. Take advantage of this free publicity by bringing fliers or other materials with information about your company. Email this form to Anne Vogel-Marr to sign up now!

Work group calls are being scheduled over the next few weeks. These calls will focus on prioritizing the key activities to be conducted over the next several months, and identifying roles, responsibilities, and time lines for completion. If you wish to participate in our work group activities but have not yet let us know, please contact Anne Vogel-Marr.
Learning Network Seeking Ideas for Future Webinars
The first webinar put on by the Learning Network is on Employee Engagement. If you have other topics you would like to see covered in webinars, please email them to Eli Golfer. Topics under current consideration include sustainable material, supply chain management, and the E3 movement.
Level 4 Work Group Activities
To kick off the Level 4 development, we are forming four subgroups: Economic, Social, Environmental, and Governance. These subgroups will identify topics that should be covered by the Level 4 standard/criteria and will then look to fill in the details under each topic. The Level 4 Work Group will create guidance for the sub work groups to follow in drafting the various elements and will provide an initial list of topics that has been created for each sub topic. For more information contact Anne Vogel-Marr or Erica Lasdon, the Level 4 Work Group Lead.
Sharing and Recognizing Outcomes Work Group
The format and outline for the First SAC Annual Report has been developed. It will feature an overview of SAC, its goals, activities and work groups, and a Meet Our Members section, with a page introducing each member. Input and comments will be sought at the Members Meeting in Philadelphia on November 2.
